West Virginia University sought the aquatics expertise of Counsilman-Hunsaker to design a world-class natatorium to be included in their new student recreation center. Features of the aquatic facility include:
• Six-lane, 25-yard lap pool
• Separate leisure pool
• Vortex
• Zero-beach entry
• Oversized spa, which overlook the aquatic center and outdoor spaces
The unique and innovative design of the student center and its programming spaces has received a lot national attention. From 2001 to 2003, the facility was honored with nine awards and has been featured twice as an ‘Architectural Showcase’ in Athletic Business magazine. In 2004, the award-winning project was highlighted on the cover of Athletic Business magazine.
