Completed in 2001 with Counsilman-Hunsaker as the lead aquatics designer, this 50-meter by 25-meter by 2.5-meter pool was the first 50-meter pool in the nation.
The pool also features a movable floor and a movable bulkhead providing flexibility for its four user groups: Ireland’s elite competition swimmers, lesson programs at the University of Limerick, community attendees and health club members.
In 2007, the University of Limerick hired Counsilman-Hunsaker to design the aquatics components for a new arena extension which includes a large aquatic component.
The new addition will include:
• 25-meter by 10-meter swimming pool
• Movable floor
• One and three-meter diving
• Vertical boom
• 1.2-meter deep shallow water
• Diving well
• Built-in vacuum systems
