As one of the top tier universities in the nation, boasting an outstanding athletics and aquatic program with countless national awards and trophies proudly under its belt since the founding of the program-(including a long legacy {since 1920} of producing some of the finest Olympic athletes in aquatics, holding 26 gold medals respectively; producing numerous All-Americans and training the best of the best in future title and medal seeking athletes) it was understood that only a world-class venue would do for this widely respected institution and the athletes of this school. Counsilman-Hunsaker was retained as the aquatics consultant by Stanford University to plan and design an aquatics complex fit to be the centerpiece of the world and its nationally recognized aquatics program. The new outdoor facility consists of four separate pools: a stretch 25-meter with diving boards and bulkhead; a 50-meter by 25-meter by 3-meter training pool, with a bulkhead; a diving pool which includes a three-centerline tower and four springboards; a 50-meter recreational pool, and two whirlpool spas. There is a huge mezzanine style seating area to accommodate the many packed events hosted here. We are proud to have provided the services that will produce some of the world’s most outstanding athletes and aquatics teams for years to come. This facility was featured as an Architectural Showcase in Athletic Business magazine in June 2002.
