| Description: |
In 1996, the City of Collinsville commissioned Counsilman-Hunsaker to provide their aquatics expertise in the development of a new community aquatic center.
The 15-acre site includes a community center and an aquatics facility featuring a 9,800-square-foot leisure pool. Amenities include:
• Water walks and lily pad walks • Interactive play features • Zero-beach entry • Water bikes • Two waterslides • Tot pool • 93,000-gallon, lazy river • Two pavilions • Bandstand • Concession area
In 2003, the City expanded the waterpark and introduced a splash play area coined, “Monsoon Mountain.” The five-level, interactive aquatics center invites families to climb nets, glide down six waterslides, and become soaked by 317 gallons of water from an oversized tipping beaker. Monsoon Mountain includes more than 130 water interactive features, like water cannons, smaller tipping buckets, and water valves.
In 2006, other aquatic features were added to the waterpark—the Flow Rider and a 25-yard, four-lane lap pool for fitness and training. The objective of the latest addition was to provide more water features that appeal to teens and adults, increase guests length of stay, generate more revenue and attendance.
