The 83,768-sq. ft. Middleburg Heights Community Center is a state-of-the art recreation, fitness and aquatic complex that provides local residents with an all-weather, year-round, family-friendly, affordable recreational fun. Aside from the aquatic facilities (both indoor and outdoor), the community center also includes a child care facility, gymnasium, offices, community hall & meeting rooms, group exercise room, walk/jog track, and fitness center.
Counsilman-Hunsaker was chosen to design the aquatics facilities for both the indoor and outdoor areas. The indoor leisure pool includes zero-beach entry, participatory play features, waterslide and current channel as well as fitness lap lanes. A spa overlooks the entire leisure pool natatorium. The outdoor aquatic area features include zero-beach entry, waterslide, vortex and play features. Because of its outstanding design, this facility won the 2000 Facility of the Year award from Ohio Park and Recreation Association, and was also featured as an Architectural Showcase in Athletic Business magazine in June 2001.
