| Description: |
Counsilman-Hunsaker was commissioned to design Illinois’ first indoor water park and resort—the Grizzly Jack’s Grand Bear Lodge. The resort was designed with a broad range of amenities to appeal to a variety of adventure-seeking guests.
One such feature is the waterslide, which is the first of its kind to use motion, video, and sound to create a unique experience. During the 30-second ride down the 330-foot closed-flume slide, which actually spirals outside of the building, swimmers can enjoy adventures ranging from playful butterflies to being attacked by a shark.
The wave pool is another popular feature of the indoor resort. With a zero-depth “ocean style” entry the wave pool leads guests to a spray bar (a series of water sprays that shoot up from the ground), waterfall, lazy river, and family slide. The lazy river weaves around the park, past a cold-water whirlpool and second waterfall.
The children’s play area offers lots of fun and entertainment and features a themed waterslide and bear-themed water spray.
In addition, an oversized hot-water spa can accommodate and welcome the Lodge’s many guests.
