| Description: |
Counsilman-Hunsaker was commissioned to design a world-class aquatic complex for the renovation of the Ford Community Performing Arts Center. The project’s objective was to add contemporary amenities to the facility including an expansive natatorium with multi-purpose pool that would allow for a wide range of public programs and local athletic team use.
The 6,000 SF leisure pool includes water attractions designed to appeal to a variety of ages including:
• Double drop slide that either provides a speedy drop into the competition pool or steadier zigzag down to the leisure pool • Zero beach entry • Interactive play features • Vortex with underwater seating • Elevated spa
The 25-yard competition pool features:
• Six lap lanes • Two one-meter diving boards • Deck-level seating, accommodating 150 spectators
In 2002, the Ford Community Performing Arts Center received an Athletic Business magazine ‘Facility of Merit’ award for its outstanding design, and in 2003 was recognized in Recreation Management magazine with an ‘Innovative Architecture & Design’ award.
