The 36,500 SF aquatic center was designed by FFKR Architects, in association with Counsilman-Hunsaker. The leisure pool has a water area of almost 4,100 SF with zero-beach entry and stair access. Other features include:
• Waterslide • Vortex • Current channel • Water spray features
Separate from the leisure pool, the lap pool has its own filtration system and includes:
• 4,507 SF - Eight-lane, 25-yards with four feet shallow end and nine feet deep end • Deck-level gutters and raised parapets to aid in visibility for swim competitions
The lap pool is also designed for water polo play and equipped with a lift and stairs for accessibility to all patrons.
In 2003, the state-of-the-art aquatic facility received two design awards: Athletic Business magazine’s ‘Facility of Merit’ award for outstanding design and Recreation Management magazine’s ‘Innovative Architecture & Design’ award.
