| Description: |
Counsilman Hunsaker, in association with Blunden Barclay Robbie Architects, was hired by the City of Brecksville to design a state-of-the-art Human Services Center to meet the needs of the community for many years to come. The Human Services Center is a highly valuable resource to the community which enhances the quality of life for older adults and assists in maintaining their independence. It’s a great place for seniors to congregate and participate in a wide range of activities.
The Human Services Center is an addition to the Brecksville Community Center. The new building nearly doubles the size of the Community Center to nearly 94,000 sq. ft. It was designed for and will primarily serve the older residents and those with special needs. The new Human Services Center houses the administrative offices of the Department of Human Services and includes a full service kitchen and “Gathering Room” for large City events, an outdoor courtyard with beautiful landscaping and seating, a lounge, activity rooms, a porch overlooking the Municipal Lake, a special needs warm water therapy pool the lower level, and a health clinic.
Special Features: • Recessed stairs • Ramped entry • Fitness lap lanes • Water spray shower • Pool lift • Hydro-therapy bench seating • Underwater treadmill • Underwater exercise bicycle • Therapy railings
In 2007, this facility won the ‘Dream Designs’ award from Aquatics International magazine as a showcase of the industry’s most imaginative design and architecture.
