| Description: |
The Bethesda Park expansion represents Gwinnett County’s ongoing development of parks under their 2002 county-wide Master Plan. The southern expansion of Bethesda Park includes several components that broaden its recreational opportunities. The primary focus of the expansion was the development of the $6 million, 31,000 SF Aquatic Center.
The team of Hand Design and Counsilman-Hunsaker brought their designing and aquatics expertise “to the drawing boards” and developed a cutting-edge aquatics facility that will be utilized by the community for years to come.
The 6,800 SF indoor aquatic complex is divided into two bodies of water with clear glass in between to minimize noise.
The first facility is a large leisure pool which contains: • Zero depth entry, which is ADA accessible. • Current channel • Vortex • Child-friendly aquatic play features
The second swimming pool includes three lap lanes for fitness swimming and hydrotherapy with benches for relaxation. In addition to the new Aquatic Center, a football ?eld, trail extension, playground, and picnic area were part of the overall project.
