| Description: |
Designed by Ron Hobbs Architects and aquatics designers Counsilman-Hunsaker, the Addison Athletic Club captures a Romanesque style design with its stately columns flanking the edge of the outdoor pool.
The sparkling blue water flows effortlessly among the multi-level pools, forming gentle waterfalls when stepping from one pool to the next. Cool showers pour and spout from the aqueduct and unexpected sprays and bubbling fountains of water delight patrons of all ages. Guests can go from the shallows in the zero-depth entry to the deep and alluring waters of the swimming pools.
An indoor fitness lap pool provides aquatic exercise for dedicated swimmers and those beginning such a regimen. An almost silent vortex beckons guests to enter its swirling waters and enjoy its hydro effects. A bubble couch and hydrotherapy bench kneads the tired muscles from a vigorous workout in the fitness facility, which overlooks the resort-like atmosphere. Places to sunbathe abound, and cabanas offer retreat from the Texas sun.
The aquatic center was nationally recognized for its distinctive design and awarded the 2004 “Annual Innovative Architectural & Design Award” from Recreation Management magazine. The project was also featured as an Architectural Showcase in Athletic Business magazine in 2005.
